James McManus – Crucial Decisions Before the First Card Is Dealt

Fields of 100 or 200 were typical, with first prize seldom exceeding the middle six figures. When you busted out of one of these events, you had to wait a few months for the next one.

The full story can be read at James McManus’ Saturday NY Times Sports Column.

WSOP 2006 – Event Dates

The Poker-Mac iCal Poker Calendar has been updated. I’ve been playing the new microlimit 7STUD games at Pacific Poker – trying to broaden my skills – but took time out to make this update as soon as I saw that Harrah’s had released the new dates.

It’ll be back at the Rio. Most Events start at noon, several at 11AM and 2PM if there are more than one events per day. The MAIN event looks like it’ll last almost 2 weeks!!

See you at the Final Table on 8/10 lol.
