Hope you all had a great 2007. The new year, 2008, looks to be exciting. Hillary or Barack will be elected president, the UIGEA will be repealed, and My bankroll will stop hovering around -$5.

I have been on a miserable slump (read: playing like a complete donk) but I hope to work on the latter this week. Searching around for the best use of my limited funds. Here’s the newest deal from Full Tilt:

2007 is coming to an end, which means it’s time to Ring in the New Year with Full Tilt Poker! Simply play in any of our real money ring games between12:00 AM ET on Monday, December 17th and 11:59 PM ET on Friday, January 4th and we’ll double the amount of Full Tilt Points you receive for any and all days you earn at least 20 points.

Once you’ve reached 20 points there’s no limit to the amount of bonus points you can collect per day. Earn 100 points in a day and we’ll double that to a 200 point total - it’s just that easy.

All bonus points earned during this period will be paid out in a lump sum after January 4th. The New York Times today has a great piece on the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society and its leaders Professor Nesson and Andrew Woods.

The group, founded at Harvard Law School, is exploring the use of poker in teaching strategic thinking. Lessons learned at the table speak to the same skill sets that power cognitive processing intensive occupations like the law, business, etc.

Poker can be America’s best foot forward in the world. Quintessentially American, invented on Mississippi river boats, spread throughout the frontier, played by presidents, generals, soldiers, diplomats, bankers, lawyers, people of every variety, online poker lets the world play. Poker could offer a far more friendly and engaging American face to the globe in cyberspace than our bombs and guns and legalized torture.
