Joe Cada Wins WSOP 2009

WSOP_November_Nine_Group.jpg

After four months of waiting the game was back on for a few days in November. The November Nine showed up having undertaken a variety of very disparate training regimens. Darvin Moon took off for the backcountry and played poker with hunting friends in Alaska. Schulman hunkered down in his bat cave with Phil Hellmuth and gave himself the best chance possible of taking down the bracelet.

Perhaps the best training regimen of them all was Phil Ivey’s.  Phil absconded to his house in Cabo where he continued to stack the high limit donks online. Barry Greenstein headed down there to ask him about the notorious hand we all saw on Screen shot 2009-11-04 at 8.35.15 PM.pngESPN where Phil made a rare mistake. Apparently once he found out he’d mucked the winning flush, Phil was steamed. Catch the whole video at pokerroad. Some investigating and google mapping lead us to this overhead shot of Phil’s sweet pad in Cabo San Lucas – Palmilla – La Caleta. . Our hopes were high that Phil would be added to the pantheon of WSOP winners, but Joe was a bit too tough this year.

Congratulations Joe Cada. Now when do we see you as a Red Pro on Pokerstars?
