The Isildur Saga
Madness has reigned over the past month at Full Tilt. The player who goes by the screenname Isildur1 on Full Tilt Poker has stormed the high limits with the aggression of his namesake from the Lord of the Rings. Like the Tolkein character who stood over 7 feet tall, Isildur has lorded over his competition at the highest stakes available anywhere. Over the past month he has hit Durrrr for $5m. And one night he player Antonius, Ivey and Durrrr at the same time on 4 table. Durrrr was so pissed at losing the millions he did to this punk, that he took off

the gloves and issued a live Dwan Challenge for mid November — unfortunately Isildur1 couldn’t make it as he was busy stacking up Durrr’s ex-bricks. The news item for today is that on 12/2/2009 he lost 5.3 million back to the poker gods. Most went to Phil Ivey ($2.3M), then Ziigmund ($1.9M) and Patrik ($1.9M), as Brian Townsend ($1.7). I suppose that’s part of what makes these guys good at their job, they learn, they study, they adapt. Isildur1 is slowly but surely – nay quickly learning that lesson as this graph of his winnings demonstrates.
Not much is known about this mysterious raider/atm. But speculation abounds. What is known is that his account is registered to a Swedish player. He started off at the lower high limits $25/50 and quickly moved up to nose bleed territory. It was there that he took down some of the biggest names and had cash winnings totalling more than 6 million before his most recent denoument. We can only hope that he gets back on the horse as the railbirding etc. are too fun. Until his identity is revealed, we are going to imagine him holed up in an ice cave outside of Gothensburg. His Fourteen quadcore processors running a bank of servers offering the highest quality data analysis of his opponents. Here are the names mentioned as possible secret identities in frequency of mention:

Viktor Blom – whose myspace page lists Stockholm, Sweden is one of folks most fingers are pointing at. He is a well known high stakes player in swedish high stakes circles. Poker Celebrities as well respected as Tony G have said that Isildur1 is definitely Viktor. Viktor, however, has denied being the masked nosebleeder, saying to BLUFF magazine “I am not the one you are looking for. Keep Searching”. Dunno – sounds a lot like Obi Wan’s jedi mind trick as he and Han were entering Mos Eisley. Guy Laliberte: the owner and magician behind the cirque de soleil franchise. known to play quite a bit of high stakes poker – and well. Not in Sweden most of the time. Todd Brunson – son of Doyle. Again not in Sweden most of the time. Robert Fink Martonas – another unknown Swedish high stakes player who came, roared, then flamed out. Suggestions are that Martonas may rather be Blom’s neighbor – making the Isildur1/Martonas relationship quite interesting.
