Jamaica, Snow, New York Times, Colin Nederkoom, Boot Camp, the Pokerroom update and HoldemPoker clubs contest.

Well, we’ve left Jamaica behind and it is snowing here in NYC and I hope it starts to stick — really beautiful.

Well, you may have read the New York Times article this morning on the Onmac.net project. One of their technology folks (Vivas Bajaj) wrote up the whole story from Colin Nederkoom’s site to Blanka and Narf’s solution. The author went through the ups and downs of installing it on his Mac Mini. The downside he said was wireless and graphics driver support and shutdown crashes. I put down that article and found this:

Boot Camp

This is the startup screen of Apple’s official take on the onmac.net project — Boot Camp. They include a streamlined installation process, well documented Boot_Camp_Beta_Setup_Guide.pdf” target=”NewWindow and drivers!!! And I quote:

The Macintosh Drivers CD installs the drivers to support the following capabilities on
your Macintosh computer:
• graphics
• networking
• audio
• AirPort wireless
• Bluetooth
• the Eject key (on Apple keyboards)
• brightness control for built-in displays

These don’t work/have no work (Get to it Colin Nederkoom):
• The following hardware features are not supported in Windows XP:
• iSight cameras
• the Apple Remote
• the Apple USB Modem
• the keyboard backlighting on MacBook Pro computers

I am so desperate to buy a MacBook Pro right now, I’ve just forced myself to resist it. Luckily, until I do upgrade, Pokerroom has added many of the features that everyone on the Mac side has been clamoring for — player’s notes, player tagging and All-In percentages. Thank you pokerroom! I’ve used the notes and tags with success during one session - hopefully they’ll still be there when I get back. Didn’t see the All-in percentages show up, even though it is ticked off in my preferences…Anyone else have success with percents?

I may not take advantage of the new features for awhile, because right now I am trying madly to hit the club straight flush contest at HoldemPoker. Hit a club straight flush in any ring game and they’ll pay you, $100. I’m playing ring games anyway right now, and you should see all the mad fish trying to hit this thing. I figure I’ll keep playing nice and tight and roll over some of these dead drawing donkeys AND hit the club str flush as well!!!
